Examples of what your AI apps can do in Google Sheets. You'll see the exact list of tools after you connect it.
add_sheet
ToolThis action creates a new worksheet within a specified Google Sheet. Supports three sheet types: GRID (standard spreadsheet), OBJECT (chart on its own sheet), and DATA_SOURCE (connected to BigQuery). Users can define properties such as sheet name, tab color, grid dimensions, and chart/data source configurations.
append_dimension
ToolThis action appends new rows or columns to a specified sheet in a Google Spreadsheet. Use it to increase the size of the sheet by adding empty rows or columns as needed.
batch_get
ToolThis action retrieves data from specific cell ranges in a Google Spreadsheet. Users can specify which ranges to get the values from, and the action handles the necessary authentication and API requests.
batch_update
ToolWrite values to a single range in a Google Sheet (or append as new rows). NOTE: This tool handles ONE range per call - for multiple ranges, make separate calls. Requires 'sheet_name' and 'values' parameters (the Google API's native 'data' array format is NOT supported).
clear_basic_filter
ToolThis action clears any existing basic filter from the specified sheet of a Google Spreadsheet. It allows users to reset the sheet's filter settings for better data visibility.
create_google_sheet1
ToolCreates a new Google Spreadsheet in your Google Drive. Optionally specify a 'title' for the new spreadsheet; if omitted, a default name will be used.
delete_dimension
ToolDeletes rows or columns from a Google Sheet. Specify the range of rows or columns you want to remove, and they will be permanently deleted from the spreadsheet.
delete_sheet
ToolThis action deletes a specified sheet from a given spreadsheet. It ensures that the selected sheet, along with its associated data sources if applicable, is removed from the document.
get_spreadsheet_by_data_filter
ToolRetrieves specific data from a Google Sheet using filters (A1 notation ranges, developer metadata, or grid ranges). Recommended: Use GOOGLESHEETS_GET_SPREADSHEET_INFO for unfiltered spreadsheet metadata retrieval.
get_spreadsheet_info
ToolThis action retrieves detailed information about a Google Spreadsheet. It provides metadata such as properties, sheets, and external data sources associated with the spreadsheet.
insert_dimension
ToolThis action inserts new rows or columns at a specified index within a Google Sheet. It allows users to expand their spreadsheet dynamically by adding empty dimensions where needed.
search_developer_metadata
ToolSearches for developer metadata within a Google Sheet. Use this to find specific metadata entries that have been attached to rows, columns, or sheets based on your filter criteria.
search_spreadsheets
ToolSearches for Google Spreadsheets in your Drive using various filters like name, content, creation date, and modification date. Useful for finding specific spreadsheets among many files.
set_basic_filter
ToolSets up a basic filter on a Google Sheet to filter or sort data within a specific range. Useful for organizing and viewing only the data that meets your criteria.
spreadsheets_sheets_copy_to
ToolCopies a single sheet from one Google Spreadsheet to another. Use this when you need to duplicate a sheet's data and formatting into a different spreadsheet.
spreadsheets_values_batch_clear
ToolThis action clears specified ranges of values from a given spreadsheet. It allows you to selectively remove data while preserving the overall structure and formatting of the spreadsheet.
spreadsheets_values_batch_clear_by_data_filter
ToolClears cell values from a Google Sheet based on data filters. Only the values are removed while keeping cell formatting, data validation, and other properties intact.
spreadsheets_values_batch_get_by_data_filter
ToolThis action retrieves specific ranges of values from a Google Spreadsheet based on defined data filters. It allows users to extract relevant data without needing to access entire sheets or predefined ranges.
update_sheet_properties
ToolThis action updates properties of a specified sheet within a Google Spreadsheet. You can modify attributes such as the sheet's title, index, visibility, and other visual properties.
update_spreadsheet_properties
ToolUpdates the overall SPREADSHEET-LEVEL properties of a Google Spreadsheet like its title, locale, time zone, and auto-recalculation settings. Use this to modify the spreadsheet's configuration. For updating individual sheet/tab properties (like renaming a sheet), use GOOGLESHEETS_UPDATE_SHEET_PROPERTIES instead.
aggregate_column_data
ToolThis action searches for specific rows in a Google Sheets spreadsheet based on a given column's value. It then performs selected mathematical operations on another column's data to provide aggregated results.
batch_update_values_by_data_filter
ToolUpdates values in a Google Sheet by matching data filters instead of fixed cell ranges. Use this when you need to update cells based on specific criteria like developer metadata or grid ranges.
clear_values
ToolThis action clears the content from a specified range in a Google Spreadsheet, using the provided A1 notation. The formatting and notes within the cells remain intact, making it ideal for resetting data without losing layout specifics.
create_chart
ToolThis action creates a chart in a specified Google Sheets spreadsheet. Users can define the type of chart and the data range from which the chart will draw its data.
create_spreadsheet_column
