How it helps public-sector teams
Six ways councils and central-government departments can use ContextGate with the AI apps their staff already use.
Keep personal data out of AI apps
PII redaction · GDPR Strict templateWhen an AI app pulls a record from a connected system, names, email addresses, phone numbers, NI numbers and other personal data in the result are replaced with placeholders before the AI app sees them. If the AI app sends a placeholder back in a later call, the tool gets the real value. The GDPR Strict template adds a check that warns when a tool call carries special-category (Article 9) or criminal-offence (Article 10) data.
A record for audits, complaints and FOI requests
Activity · AttentionEvery tool call through ContextGate is logged with the time, AI app, user, connection, tool, the arguments as sent, the redacted result and what your policies decided. Filter by app, user, tool, policy or date to find what an AI app did with a record. Attention lists the last seven days of blocked and warned calls in one place.
Give AI apps only the tools they need
Connections · Per-tool switchesConnect the apps your teams already use, such as Gmail, Slack, Salesforce or GitHub, or any remote MCP server. Then switch off the tools AI apps shouldn't use, such as deleting records or sending email. A switched-off tool is hidden from the AI app and refused if called. Switches apply to the whole toolbox, so every AI app using it gets the same set.
Stop secrets leaking into tool calls
Secrets blocking · PatternsA tool call whose arguments contain an API key, AWS key, JWT or other secret is blocked, and the secret is kept out of the log. Add your own patterns or keywords to block as well.
Rules written in plain English
Governance checks · 16 templatesWrite a rule as a sentence, such as “Block any email to an address outside our domain.” A model that ContextGate manages judges each tool call against it, before the tool runs or before the AI app sees the result. Each check blocks, warns or logs; a warning lets the call through and puts the warning at the top of the result. Start from 16 templates, including GDPR Strict, EU AI Act and Prompt Injection Defense.
Know which AI apps are connected
Agents · Team rolesThe Agents page lists the AI apps and API keys using ContextGate, who signed each one in, and when each was first and last seen. Invite colleagues, such as your information governance lead, as Owner, Admin, Member or Viewer, and revoke API keys you no longer need.
ContextGate sees the tool calls that go through it. It doesn't see an AI app's built-in tools or your staff's chats.
