Opik MCP: debug and score LLM traces from your coding assistant
Opik's MCP server lets your AI assistant read and score Opik traces, experiments, datasets and prompts, so you can ask why an LLM call went wrong without leaving your editor. ContextGate connects it to Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor with your Opik sign-in, and every trace read and every score your assistant writes is recorded.

Connect Opik to Claude Code, Cursor or ChatGPT
- 1Click Connect Opik free and sign in with your Opik account.
- 2Opik's tools are all on after sign-in. Reading and scoring are different jobs: switch off the scoring tools if scores in Opik should only come from your own evaluation runs.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your coding assistant to read the latest traces in an Opik project and explain one that failed, then check Activity for the calls.
LLM debugging with Opik in your editor
- Read traces from an Opik project while you fix the code that produced them.
- Look at experiments to see how a prompt change did.
- Check datasets and prompts stored in Opik without leaving Claude Code or Cursor.
- Score traces from your assistant as part of a review.
Keep evaluation data trustworthy
- Switch off the scoring tools so your AI app reads Opik data but can't add scores.
- Policies check every call, so personal data inside a trace can be hidden from the chat.
- Activity shows every trace your assistant opened and every score it wrote.
What you get with Opik and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use OpikClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Opik through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Opik tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
Opik tools
Opik's own MCP server shows its tools once you sign in. When you connect it, they are listed and synced in your workspace.
