Egnyte MCP: your company files inside your AI app
Egnyte is where many businesses store, share and govern their files, and Egnyte's own MCP server brings that content to your AI app. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor with an Egnyte sign-in. The tools are listed once you connect, and a workspace policy can hide personal data in any file content an AI app reads.

Connect Egnyte to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- 1Click Connect Egnyte free and sign in with your Egnyte account.
- 2The tool list appears after you sign in, with all tools on. Go through it and switch off anything beyond reading if your AI app should only look at content, not change it.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app a question about one of your team's documents in Egnyte, then open Activity to see which calls it made.
Egnyte content in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- Give your AI app business context from the files your team already keeps in Egnyte.
- Work with Egnyte through the same ContextGate connection your AI app uses for your other apps.
- See exactly which Egnyte tools are available in ContextGate once you've signed in.
Govern what AI apps read from Egnyte
- Switch off any Egnyte tool and no AI app in your workspace can see or call it.
- Egnyte often holds sensitive content, so policies check each call and can hide personal data or block secrets.
- Activity records each Egnyte call your team's AI apps make.
ContextGate sees only the calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or chats.
