Sisense MCP: natural-language queries and charts in your AI app

Ask a question of your Sisense data in plain English and get a chart back. The Sisense MCP server queries your data and builds charts, dashboards and Pulse workflows, under Sisense's own governance. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor and adds a second layer on top: workspace policies on each call and a record of every dashboard request.

How to connect Sisense to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

  1. 1Click Connect Sisense free and sign in with your Sisense account.
  2. 2Every tool is on once you connect. Querying answers questions, while building dashboards and Pulse workflows adds to your Sisense environment; switch those tools off if your AI app should only answer.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4Ask your AI app for monthly revenue by region from Sisense as a bar chart, then open Activity to see the call.

Sisense analysis from Claude or ChatGPT

  • Ask questions of your Sisense data in natural language instead of writing queries.
  • Build a chart from the answer and keep it in Sisense.
  • Put together a dashboard for a question your team asks every week.
  • Set up Pulse workflows from the same conversation.

Two layers of governance

  • Sisense applies its own governance to what your AI app can query; ContextGate adds workspace policies on every call.
  • Switch off the dashboard or Pulse tools: your AI app stops seeing them, and any call to them is refused.
  • Activity records every query and build request your AI apps send to Sisense.

What you get with Sisense and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use SisenseClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Sisense through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Sisense tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.

Sisense tools

Sisense's own MCP server shows its tools once you sign in. When you connect it, they are listed and synced in your workspace.
