The Zebra MCP: compare car insurance quotes in a chat

The Zebra's MCP server lets your AI app shop for car insurance: it starts a quote, returns estimated rates from carriers you can buy from online, then gives the next step for the quote you choose. It needs no sign-in. ContextGate connects its three tools to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, and a policy can hide personal details in a quote request.

Add The Zebra's quote tools to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

  1. 1Click Connect The Zebra free. There's no sign-in, so its tools are ready at once.
  2. 2All three tools start on. `zebra_get_rate_action` takes a chosen quote to its next step toward buying, so switch it off if your AI app should only compare estimates.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4Ask your AI app to get estimated car insurance rates from The Zebra and answer its questions as it goes, then open Activity to see `zebra_start_session` and the rate call.

Car insurance shopping with The Zebra

  • Start a quote with `zebra_start_session`; every later step works on that same quote.
  • See estimated rates from the carriers you can buy from online through `zebra_get_rc1_rates`.
  • Pick a quote and get its next step with `zebra_get_rate_action`.

Personal details stay under your rules

  • Quotes need details about you and your car. A workspace policy can hide personal data before a call leaves your AI app.
  • Switch off `zebra_get_rate_action` to keep your AI app at the comparison stage; it's hidden and refused if called.
  • Activity records each quote call, so you can see which estimates were requested.

What you get with The Zebra and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use The ZebraClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach The Zebra through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any The Zebra tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
