Upwork MCP: let your AI app work on Upwork for you
Upwork's official MCP server lets AI agents connect to your Upwork account and act on your behalf. Anything it does is done as you, so it pays to choose which tools stay on. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor; you can switch off any Upwork tool, and each call made in your name is recorded.

- 4Ask your AI app a question about your Upwork account, then open Activity to see which tool it called and what it sent.

- Have it act on your behalf on Upwork from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.
- See the full set of Upwork tools after connecting, and keep the ones that fit how you work.
Acting as you, with limits
- Switch off any Upwork tool and it's hidden from your AI app; calls to it are refused.
- A policy can warn or block before an action goes through on your account.
- Activity records every call made in your name.
What you get with Upwork and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use UpworkClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Upwork through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Upwork tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
