Barcode Report MCP: product lookups by barcode or name

Add barcode lookups to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

1. 1Click Connect Barcode Report free and paste an API key from your Barcode Report account.
2. 2All four tools are lookups, and each code checked uses part of a monthly allowance. If you only look up one code at a time, switch off `lookup_barcodes`, which checks up to 100 codes in one call.
3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
4. 4Paste an EAN from a product label and ask your AI app what it is, then open Activity to see the Barcode Report call.

Barcode lookups by asking

• Identify a product from its UPC, EAN or GTIN with `lookup_barcode`.
• Find a book by its ISBN.
• Search products by title, brand or category with `search_products` when you don't have the code.
• Work through up to 100 barcodes for an inventory sheet in one call.
• Check how much of the monthly allowance is left with `get_usage`.

Lookups on record

• Activity keeps each lookup, so you can see which codes were checked.
• Switch off any tool; it's hidden from your AI app and refused if called.

• lookup_barcodeFind the product for one barcode: UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-13, EAN-8, GTIN-14, ISBN-10 or ISBN-13. Returns the title and, where known, brand, category, description, image, price, identifiers and book details. Uses one lookup from the monthly allowance, even when the code is not found.
• lookup_barcodesFind the products for up to 100 barcodes in one call. Duplicates are ignored. Uses one lookup per distinct code; if the batch would exceed the remaining allowance, nothing is looked up or charged.
• search_productsSearch products by title, brand or category when you have a name rather than a barcode. Returns barcode, title, brand, category and image for the best matches. Words shorter than 3 letters are ignored. Uses one lookup per call.
• get_usageShow the account's plan, monthly allowance, lookups used and when usage resets. Free.
