Mux MCP: the Mux video API inside your AI app
Mux's official MCP server puts the Mux video API within reach of your AI app, so you can work with your Mux account from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor instead of writing API requests. The exact tools appear once you connect. ContextGate links them through one connection; switch off anything that changes your Mux account and the rest shows up in Activity.

How to connect Mux to Cursor, Claude or ChatGPT
- 1Click Connect Mux free and sign in with your Mux account.
- 2Every tool is on after you connect, and the list appears then. Go through it and switch off any call that changes your Mux account if you only want your AI app to read.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app about the videos in your Mux account, then open Activity to see the call.
Mux from your AI app
- Work with the Mux API from a chat instead of writing requests by hand.
- Use Mux from Cursor while you build video into a website or platform.
- See the full tool list in ContextGate after you sign in.
Control and record
- Switch off a Mux tool that changes your account, and your AI app can neither see nor call it.
- Policies check every call, so secrets such as API keys can be blocked before they're sent.
- Activity records every Mux call.
What you get with Mux and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use MuxClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Mux through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Mux tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
Mux tools
Mux's own MCP server shows its tools once you sign in. When you connect it, they are listed and synced in your workspace.
