Swagger MCP: Swagger by SmartBear inside your AI app
Bring Swagger by SmartBear into the AI app where you write code. SmartBear's MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor access to Swagger, part of SmartBear's API quality tooling; the full tool list appears once you connect. ContextGate sits in between, so any Swagger tool you'd rather keep away from your AI app can be switched off, and every call is recorded.

How to connect Swagger to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- 1Click Connect Swagger free and sign in with your SmartBear account.
- 2The full tool list appears after you connect, with every tool on. Go through it and switch off anything that changes your Swagger content if you'd rather make those edits yourself.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app what it can see in Swagger, then open Activity to see which tools it called.
Swagger next to your code
- Work with Swagger from the editor where you write the code, in Cursor or Claude Code.
- Ask Claude or ChatGPT questions about your Swagger work without switching tabs.
- Review what each Swagger tool does once the list appears, and keep the ones that fit your workflow.
Controls on Swagger calls
- Switch off a Swagger tool and it's hidden from your AI app and refused if called.
- Policies check every call, so an API key pasted into a request can be blocked as a secret.
- Activity records each call your team's AI apps make to Swagger.
What you get with Swagger and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use SwaggerClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Swagger through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Swagger tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
Swagger tools
Swagger's own MCP server shows its tools once you sign in. When you connect it, they are listed and synced in your workspace.
