Skyvern MCP: browser automation your AI app can start

Skyvern runs browser tasks with AI agents that navigate sites, click, fill in forms and pull out data. Its MCP server lets your AI app start those tasks and follow their runs. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, and a policy can warn or block before a task that submits forms goes ahead.

Getting Skyvern into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

  1. 1Click Connect Skyvern free and sign in with your Skyvern account.
  2. 2Starting a browser task can click and submit forms on real websites and uses Skyvern credits. Switch that tool off if your AI app should only check runs and agents.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4Ask your AI app which Skyvern runs failed today and why, then open Activity to see the calls it made.

Tasks Skyvern's agents can take on

  • Start a browser task that navigates a site, clicks through it and fills in a form.
  • Extract data from a website without writing selectors.
  • Check a run's status, output, errors and files, or cancel runs that are still going.
  • List your Skyvern agents and sort them into folders.

Before Skyvern clicks submit

  • Switch off the tool that starts browser tasks, and your AI app can monitor runs but not start new ones.
  • Set a policy to warn or block before a task starts, since a task can have side effects on other websites.
  • Activity records every task your AI apps started and every run they cancelled.

What you get with Skyvern and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use SkyvernClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Skyvern through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Skyvern tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
