Airbyte MCP: build and fix data pipelines by asking
Build Airbyte pipelines, fix failing syncs, add custom connectors and fetch data in real time, all from a conversation. Airbyte's own MCP server covers work you'd otherwise script against the Airbyte API. Use it through ContextGate from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, and a pipeline change can raise a warning before it's made.

Plug Airbyte into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- 1Click Connect Airbyte free and sign in with your Airbyte account.
- 2Once connected, the full list appears and every tool is on. Pipelines move data between your systems, so switch off the tools that build or change them if your AI app should only fetch data and look into syncs.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app why last night's Airbyte sync failed, then open Activity to see the calls it made.
Data pipeline work from a chat
- Build a new pipeline by describing the source and destination.
- Find out why a sync is failing and fix it.
- Add a custom connector to Airbyte.
- Fetch data in real time and ask questions about it.
Oversight for pipeline changes
- Switch off the tools that build or change pipelines and keep the ones that read data.
- A policy can hide personal data in fetched records before your AI app sees it.
- Activity keeps each Airbyte call, so a pipeline change made from a chat can be traced.
What you get with Airbyte and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use AirbyteClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Airbyte through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Airbyte tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
Airbyte tools
Airbyte's own MCP server shows its tools once you sign in. When you connect it, they are listed and synced in your workspace.
