Localtonet MCP: tunnels and remote access from your AI app
Localtonet exposes local apps, APIs and devices to the internet through secure tunnels, a reverse proxy and remote access. Its MCP server brings that service into your AI app, and the exact tools appear after you connect. ContextGate links it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, where you can switch off any tool that would open a local service to the internet.

Connect Localtonet to Cursor, Claude or ChatGPT
- 1Click Connect Localtonet free and paste an API token from your Localtonet account.
- 2Every tool is on after connecting, and you'll see the full list then. A tunnel makes a local app reachable from the internet, so switch off any tool that creates or opens one unless you want your AI app doing that.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app about the tunnels on your Localtonet account, then open Activity to see the call.
Localtonet from a chat
- Work with the secure tunnels that expose a local app or API to the internet.
- Use Localtonet's reverse proxy and remote access for local services.
- Stay in Cursor while you check on the tunnels behind the app you're building.
Localtonet's full tool list appears in ContextGate after you add your token.
Control what gets exposed
- Switch off tools that open tunnels; they're hidden from your AI app and refused if called.
- A policy can warn or block before a tunnel call goes through.
- Activity keeps a record of every Localtonet call.
