AssemblyAI MCP: transcribe and analyze audio from your AI app
Send a recording to AssemblyAI from your AI app and get back a transcript, a summary or an analysis, using AssemblyAI's speech-to-text and Speech Understanding. It's the AssemblyAI API without the glue code. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, and a switch keeps irreversible actions, such as deleting a transcript's content, out of your AI app's reach.

Hook AssemblyAI up to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- 1Click Connect AssemblyAI free and sign in with your AssemblyAI account.
- 2Deleting a transcript's content can't be undone, and AssemblyAI offers no way to delete uploaded media through its API. If your AI app only needs to read and search transcripts, switch off delete and upload tools when you see them in the list.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Give your AI app a link to a recording, ask for a transcript with timestamps, then open Activity to see the submit and fetch calls.
Audio work you can hand to Claude or ChatGPT
- Queue a transcription from a media URL, or upload an audio or video file first.
- Search a finished transcript for a word or phrase and get counts and timestamps.
- Export a completed transcript as SRT or WebVTT subtitles.
- Pull sentence or paragraph segments with timestamps and confidence, or list the last 90 days of transcripts.
- Fetch PII-redacted audio for a transcript submitted with redaction.
Guard your recordings and transcripts
- Switch off transcript deletion so a stray request can't wipe stored content; the tool is hidden and refused if called.
- Policies check every call, for example hiding personal data or warning before a transcript is deleted.
- Activity keeps a record of every transcription, search and export.
What you get with AssemblyAI and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use AssemblyAIClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach AssemblyAI through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any AssemblyAI tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
