Keenable MCP: independent web search in your AI app
Keenable's MCP server gives your AI app live web search and fetches pages as clean markdown, all from Keenable's own crawler and index. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor with a Keenable sign-in, blocks a secret or customer detail from going out in a search query when a policy says so, and lists every search in Activity.

How to connect Keenable to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- 1Click Connect Keenable free and sign in with your Keenable account.
- 2Whichever way you connect, Keenable's tools all start on. On the app connector, authenticated search and fetch use Keenable credits while the public versions share a per-IP quota, so switch off whichever pair you don't want your AI app using.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app to find a library's latest release notes with Keenable and read the top page, then open Activity to see both calls.
Web research through Keenable
- Search the live web and get back one ranked set of results.
- Fetch a public page as clean markdown your AI app can read.
- Try search and fetch without an API key through Keenable's public evaluation pool, shared at up to 1,000 requests an hour per IP.
Watch what goes out in searches
- Switch off either the authenticated or the public tools, depending on whether you'd rather spend credits or share the per-IP quota.
- Policies check every query, so a secret pasted into a search can be blocked.
- Activity records each search and fetch your team's AI apps make.
What you get with Keenable and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use KeenableClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Keenable through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Keenable tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
