Puter MCP: your files, websites and workers from an AI app
Puter's MCP server lets your AI app work in your Puter account: manage files, websites, workers and more. Instead of scripting against the Puter API yourself, ask Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. ContextGate sits between them and Puter, so you can switch off tools that change files or a live site, and every call is recorded.

Set up Puter in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- 1Click Connect Puter free and sign in with your Puter account.
- 2Every Puter tool is on once you connect, and the full list shows up then. Switch off the tools that change or remove files, websites or workers if you only want your AI app to look.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app to list the files in one of your Puter folders, then open Activity to see the call.
Work in Puter from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- Manage the files in your Puter account from a chat.
- Look after the websites you host on Puter without leaving your editor.
- Work with your Puter workers from Claude Code or Cursor.
Keep changes to Puter visible
- Switch off a Puter tool and your AI app can no longer see or call it.
- Policies check each call, so an API key inside a file your AI app is about to save to Puter can be blocked.
- Activity records every Puter call, so a changed file or site can be traced back afterward.
What you get with Puter and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use PuterClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Puter through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Puter tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
Puter tools
Puter's own MCP server shows its tools once you sign in. When you connect it, they are listed and synced in your workspace.
