Webshare MCP: proxies, usage and billing from your AI app
Check proxy usage, manage your proxies or look over plans and billing without opening the Webshare dashboard. Webshare's MCP server covers proxies, usage, plans and billing, and you sign in with OAuth instead of creating an API key. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, where plan and billing tools can be switched off so your AI app sticks to usage.

Setting up Webshare for Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
- 1Click Connect Webshare free and sign in to Webshare over OAuth.
- 2All tools are on after sign-in, and the list appears then. Usage and proxy lookups are low risk; tools that change your plan or touch billing are not, so switch those off unless you want your AI app making account changes.
- 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
- 4Ask your AI app for your Webshare usage so far this month, then open Activity to see the call.
Webshare account tasks for Claude or Cursor
- Check your proxy usage while you debug a scraper in Cursor.
- List and manage the proxies on your account.
- Review your current plan and billing from a chat.
Account changes under your control
- Switch off plan and billing tools; they're hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- A policy can warn or block before a plan change goes through.
- Activity records every Webshare call, so changes to proxies or billing can be traced.
What you get with Webshare and ContextGate
- Your AI apps can use WebshareClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Webshare through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
- You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Webshare tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
- Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.
ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
Webshare tools
Webshare's own MCP server shows its tools once you sign in. When you connect it, they are listed and synced in your workspace.
