Gdacs MCP: live disaster alerts and event data in your AI app

GDACS, the Global Disaster Awareness and Coordination System, publishes alerts on disasters worldwide. This MCP server gives your AI app that data: active disasters, recent alerts, events by country, and the severity and affected population of each event. It's public, so ContextGate lists its eight tools at once and logs every query.

  • Free
  • 8 example tools

Connect GDACS disaster data to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

  1. 1Click Connect GDACS free. There's no sign-in, so its tools are ready at once.
  2. 2Every tool reads GDACS data and nothing changes anywhere, so teams usually keep all eight. Switch one off if you want a narrower tool list, such as dropping `get_disaster_statistics` when you only track live events.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4Ask your AI app which disasters are affecting a country your team works in, then open Activity to see the `get_events_by_country` call.

Disaster monitoring questions GDACS can answer

  • List currently active disasters, grouped by type with their geographic footprints, using `get_active_disasters`.
  • Pull the alerts from the last N hours with `get_recent_alerts`.
  • Get the location, severity, affected population and timeline of one event via `get_event_data`.
  • Summarize disasters by type and alert level over a period with `get_disaster_statistics`.

A record of every disaster lookup

  • Switch off any GDACS tool; ContextGate hides it from your AI app and refuses calls to it.
  • Activity records every query, which helps when a team plans around these answers.

What you get with GDACS and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use GDACSClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach GDACS through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any GDACS tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
