Icons8 MCP: real icons and illustrations in your editor

Icons8's MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor or ChatGPT search and fetch genuine Icons8 icons and Ouch illustrations as SVG, PNG or animation, so the icon in your component is a real asset, not one the model drew. ContextGate connects it with your Icons8 sign-in, lets you switch off any tool and keeps each fetch in Activity.

Connect Icons8 to Cursor, Claude Code or ChatGPT

  1. 1Click Connect Icons8 free and sign in with your Icons8 account.
  2. 2The tools appear once you're connected, all on. Since they search and fetch assets, there's little to lock down; switching off the ones you don't use keeps your AI app's tool list short.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4In Cursor, ask for a settings icon as SVG from Icons8 for the component you're building, then open Activity to see the fetch.

Icons and illustrations while you build

  • Search the Icons8 library for an icon that fits your UI.
  • Fetch it as SVG, PNG or animation, ready to drop into your code.
  • Pull Ouch illustrations for empty states or landing pages.

Asset requests on record

  • Switch off any Icons8 tool; it's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Activity shows each icon search and fetch your team's AI apps made.

What you get with Icons8 and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use Icons8Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Icons8 through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Icons8 tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
