ImageKit MCP: your media library, managed from an AI app

ImageKit's MCP server lets your AI app search, upload, organize, tag, share and manage the assets in your ImageKit media library. Find every image with a given tag, move files into a new folder or check this month's usage from Claude or Cursor. ContextGate connects it and lets you switch off the delete tools.

How to connect ImageKit to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

  1. 1Click Connect ImageKit free and sign in with your ImageKit account.
  2. 2Deleting a file, a folder with its contents or a file version is permanent, and a rename can purge cached URLs. Switch off those tools and keep search, tagging and moves.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4Ask your AI app to find all assets tagged 'banner' and move them to a campaign folder, then open Activity to see the calls.

Organize your ImageKit assets by asking

  • List and search assets by name, tags, folder path or advanced queries.
  • Move up to 100 files to a folder, or copy a whole folder.
  • Update tags and metadata on a file, or strip tags from up to 50 files at once.
  • Read a file's EXIF data, dimensions and versions.
  • Check usage for a date range of up to 90 days.

No accidental loss

  • Switch off the delete tools for files, folders, versions and metadata fields.
  • Set a policy to warn or block before a bulk move or rename goes through.
  • Activity records every change to your media library made through an AI app.

What you get with ImageKit and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use ImageKitClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach ImageKit through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any ImageKit tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
