Agent DVR MCP: talk to your security cameras

Ask your security cameras what happened, review CCTV recordings and alerts, and set up alert rules in a sentence. Agent DVR's built-in MCP server can also arm or disarm your NVR. ContextGate connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, and switching off the arm and disarm tools means a chat can't change your security.

Link Agent DVR cameras to your AI app

  1. 1Click Connect Agent DVR free and sign in with your Agent DVR account.
  2. 2Every tool is on once you connect, and the full list appears then. Arming or disarming your NVR changes your security, so switch off those tools unless you want a chat to do it, and keep the viewing and review tools.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4Ask your AI app whether any camera raised an alert overnight, then open Activity to see the call to Agent DVR.

What your AI app can do with Agent DVR

  • Look at live IP camera views and ask what's in the frame.
  • Review CCTV recordings and alerts without scrubbing through a timeline.
  • Set up an alert rule by describing it in plain language.
  • Arm or disarm your NVR from a chat, if you leave that tool on.

Guarding your camera system

  • Switch off the arm and disarm tools and your AI app can watch but not change your security settings.
  • A policy can warn or block before an alert rule is created or changed.
  • Activity records each camera request, so you can see when footage was reviewed through an AI app.

What you get with Agent DVR and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use Agent DVRClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Agent DVR through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Agent DVR tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.
