Phrase MCP: translation and terminology in your AI app

Phrase's MCP server links MCP-compatible AI tools to Phrase, the language intelligence platform for translation, terminology and quality. ContextGate makes that connection for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor with your Phrase sign-in, so translators and developers can check a term from a chat, and each request passes your workspace policies first.

How to connect Phrase to an AI app

  1. 1Click Connect Phrase free and sign in with your Phrase account.
  2. 2The Phrase tool list appears after sign-in, all on. Keep what your localization work needs, and switch off any tool that changes translations if your AI app should only look things up.
  3. 3Add ContextGate to your AI app as a connector or MCP server. The steps for each app are on the Works with page.
  4. 4Ask your AI app how a product term should be translated according to your Phrase terminology, then check Activity for the call.

Language work with Phrase

  • Work with translations in Phrase from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.
  • Check terminology so your AI app uses your approved terms.
  • Look at translation quality before a release.

Phrase's full tool list appears in ContextGate after you sign in.

Translation changes you can trace

  • Switch off any Phrase tool; it's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Policies check every call, so a secret in a string sent for translation can be blocked.
  • Activity records every Phrase call your team's AI apps make.

What you get with Phrase and ContextGate

  • Your AI apps can use PhraseClaude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other AI apps reach Phrase through the one ContextGate connection you add to them.
  • You choose which tools they can useSwitch off any Phrase tool you don't want used. It's hidden from your AI apps and refused if called.
  • Every call is checked and recordedYour policies check each call (for example, personal data is hidden and secrets are blocked), and Activity keeps a record of it.

ContextGate sees only the tool calls that go through it, not your AI app's built-in tools or your chats.

Phrase tools
